Rapper J.J. Sinatra, Philadelphia, PA
Nasty Tai Boogy: How long have you been rapping?J.J. Sinatra: 13 years
Nasty Tai Boogy: 13 years thats wonderful. What made you decide to start a career in music?
J.J. Sinatra: I know this sounds kinda played out, but when I was 5 years old I saw Michael Jackson on T.V. doin' the moon walk and I said to myself, "that's what I wanna do". The only problem was I couldn't sing or dance. By the time I was 10 rap was on the come up and I fell in love with it. When I hit 16 I found out that I could rap and decided to pursue the dream of bein' a rap star.
Nasty Tai Boogy: What is your inspiration?
J.J. Sinatra: A lot of things inspire me, but I think what inspired me the most was what everyone who doubted me had to say about me bein' a rapper. Ya know, stuff like "you're corny, stop tryin' to be black" and "you're chasing a pipe dream", and my all time favorite "you're a fake ass white boy who thinks he's down". Yeah, blowin' up in everyone's face who hated on me is my inspiration.
Nasy Tai Boogy: Who are your influences?
J.J. Sinatra: Well in the rap field I'd have to say Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and of course Ghost Face Killah. I'm also influenced by Dean Martin, Andrew Dice Clay and who else but the late great Frank Sinatra.
Nasty Tai Boogy: What are your future goals?
J.J. Sinatra: Besides bein' successful in music, I'd have to say my ultimate goal is to be a great actor. I really love rappin' but I'd rather be in the movie business. You can act til your old & gray and keep reinventing yourself. You can reinvent yourself in music but I can't see me bein' 50 years old droppin' my 23rd rap album.
Nasty Tai Boogy: I feel you on that. Are you signed to a record label?
J.J. Sinatra: Yes. I'm signed to a indie label called Jimmy Franks Recording Company, but my distribution is under Fontana which is a Universal Records corporation.
Nasty Tai Boogy: What artist are you currently listening to at the moment?
J.J. Sinatra: On the real, NONE!!!! I'm so into what I gotta do right now that alls I listen to is instrumentals that I plan on crushin' for future projects. Also there's a lot of garbage on the radio these days. Once in a blue I'll pop in Jay-Z's first album or Ghost Face's Supreme Clientele. Other then that you might catch me listening to the jazz channel.
Nasty Tai Boogy: What producer and/or artist would you love to work with and why?
J.J. Sinatra: I'd love to work with Primo from Gang Starr simply because I came up on chopped up sample beats like the ones he's famous for. Kayne West is pretty nasty with the beats too, plus I think his ego & my cockyness would be super obnoxious on a track. Obnoxious in a good way of course.
Nasty Tai Boogy: If you were a superhero, what would your name be and what superpower would you have?
J.J. Sinatra: My super hero name would be Dr. BIGWOOD!!! Use your imagination to figure out my super powers.
Nasty Tai Boogy: Lol at Dr. Bigwood. Everyone and their mother has a twitter now, do you have one?
J.J. Sinatra: You're makin' me feel old!!!! I kinda gotta idea of what Twitter is, with all the textin' all your people and then some at once, givin' 'em a blow by blow of what you're doin'. But naw I can't lie I ain't really up on that shit. I suppose when I'm officially famous enough then I'll get my Twitter face on.
