JORDAN CRAFTON, CEO/DIRECTOR OF JDC FILMS
22 year old Jordan Crafton from Uniondale, NY has big dreams. People say that he works too hard, he dreams too big, and that he is wasting his time trying to become one of the best. The negativity does not stop him at all. It actually keeps him motivated. Jordan is graduating Suma Cum Lade from the School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina in August and is currently a manager at the Red Lobster.
JDC Films is an upcoming grassroots film company started by Jordan Crafton in Uniondale, NY in the summer of 2005. JDC Films strives to bridge the gap between reality and fiction without appearing to commercial and cliché. We are striving to create films that are edgy, innovative, and thought provoking.
JDC Films has been a self-sufficient film company for two strong years. There target viewer demographic is 16-25 years old with the strongest support in South Carolina and New York. We have been appearing on the popular video-sharing network, YouTube since our inception three years ago. With over 18,000 views since 2006, and over 40,000 hits to the company's website in 2009, JDC Films has had a growing amount of supporters. (www.jdcfilmsonline.com)
My Block: Strong Island, JDC Films biggest movie to date, was premiered on March 24, 2008 at the Nickelodeon Theatre, February 3, 2009 at the Russell House Theater both in Columbia, SC where 170 people filled the seats in the Russell House Theater to all be inspired by this work, and on April 16, 2009 at SUNY Potsdam. Most recently premiered at Uniondale High School on June 5, 2009 where over 400 were in attendance. The night was covered both by News 12 and Newsday. What makes My Block: Strong Island unique is that it focuses on the lives of 15 “average” kids, from a variety of lower middle class neighborhoods. At its deepest, My Block: Strong Island is about determination and the need to persevere in order to achieve goals. Its also about being steadfast and unmovable as dreamers take that next step forward no matter how difficult or frightening it may seem. Each step will culminate in a triumphant moment that brings them closer to their destiny. JDC Films has also received 3rd Place for the work, If You Only Knew, released in November 2007 in the Got Film festival in Columbia, SC.
