7/22/2009 01:21:00 AM Reporter: Nasty Tai Boogy 0 Responses

If you didn't see his work at Sneaker Pimps, Summer Jam or the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival here's the perfect opportunity to see it up close and personal.

His first gallery show in NY is next on the agenda and it will feature his canvas art and customized sneakers. It's going down Friday July 24th at SoleFood NYC. Now his birthday is the 27th and he's turning 30, hence the name "30 Years on Planet Earth". It's going to be pieces that represent things that have influenced him throughout his life - family, friends, music, movies, sports and alot more.

The incredible DJ Kraff Swagger, free drinks, and other good stuff. It's free! It starts at 7pm, ends at 11 pm, early enough to still go do other things after wards.

Stop by, say hi, drink up, be merry, it's a celebration!

DUKE LANTERN

7/20/2009 11:57:00 PM Reporter: Nasty Tai Boogy 0 Responses
Duke Lantern was born in the Connecticut housing projects of Bowels Park, to a Latina mother and Jamaican father. Humble beginnings served only as fuel to ignite Duke through adversity and economic setbacks as a child.
His gift of visualizing and artistically documenting the surreal was evident very early on. He began illustrating his own original comic book series in the 7th grade entitled "Flave". The buzz from this gore-filled sexually overt comic began to spread like wildfire until it eventually caught the attention of four other like minded artists. This group of young artists collaborated to then produce a comic called "Renegades", (which was loosely based on themselves and garnered newspaper exposure.)
In recent years, Duke has continued to grow and evolve in his career as an artist. He has done exclusive artwork for 50 Cent, Young Hot Rod of G-Unit, acclaimed hip hop director/photographer Jonathan Mannion, and the incomparable Star & Bucwild. With a devoted group of supporters worldwide, along with one of the coolest monikers in the past decade, "The Black Dali"... Duke Lantern is determined to "make art culture pop culture."

BEHIND THE LENS: REVELL IMAGES

ANTOINE REVELL, PHOTOGRAPHER
A college graduated from Cal State University in Los Angeles, Antoine received a degree in Film and Television. While in college he was a student athlete, model, and also assisted a wonderful Photographer by the name of Scott Hebert of Studio360 Imaging. Being a part time model and an assistant photographer he was able to learn both sides of the business. Scott Hebert showed him the ropes, the in's and outs, and pushed him to turn his hobby into something to take more serious. While working with Hebert, Antoine was able to work with many celebrities, such as Faith Evans, Ludacris, Claudia Jordan, and Melissa Ford just to name a few. He recently did a photoshoot wit BET's Baldwin Hills star Justin Walker, and USA track & Field runner Desi Burt. "Being an athlete in college makes me feel the need to take on the athletic photography. I want to be a photographer that can do both athletic and the fashion/urban genres. By being a young photographer I will see many challenges but when people talk to me and see my results they know I'm only young in appearance. Studying and taking it as an honor to capture great images is what separates me from others. I get excited before I even click on my camera. The future looks bright and I will let God lead me down my path."

HIP HOP'S ROCKSTAR, J!

7/14/2009 12:01:00 AM Reporter: Nasty Tai Boogy 0 Responses
J, Female Emcee/Producer/Songwriter/Musician

Her style, her charisma, and talent surpass many in her generation. She allows her thoughts to flow freely, as she pours her heart out onto her tablet creating masterpieces. She gives her audience what they need as well as what they desire. She's the truth of hip hop and she's in a class all her own. As a matter of fact, she instructs the class.
J (not Jay) has been a lover of music since she was a small child growing up in a small town of Georgia. She respected and nurtured that love until it blossomed into a bond, which is truly unbreakable.
J is not only a hip hop artist. This young woman is the CEO of her own label, Use Of Force Entertainment, a phenomenal producer, an exquisite songwriter, and a talented musician. J's many talents allow her to take her listeners on a musical journey like no other.
With her first single, "Queen", J schools the ladies on how to step up, take charge, and control their own destiny. "Queen" represents today's strong woman. Once the ladies hear J's powerful lyrics, they will no longer ask to be respected, they will go out and demand it. Her peers, simply, define it as a woman's anthem.
With J's current single, "Rockstar", she wants you to know the true definition of swagger. "Rockstar" definitely catches anyone's attention with its banging rock-influenced sound and unforgettable lyrics. With this track, J lets you know that material things don't give you swagger. Swagger is a state of mind built on courage, confidence, and charm.
People from all walks of life are drawn to this young woman like a moth to a flame. She has been featured in several online publications, such as Indy Hip Hop World, The Culturtainment Experience, and HHH Magazine. She has also been interviewed by some of the hottest online radio stations, such as That's My Word with Mari Torres, Boss Ladi Radio with Toya Anitri, and Triple Platinum Underground Radio with Tripp.
J is certainly a force to be reckoned with. And when you pop in her brand new EP, Breath of Fresh Air, you will find out why. She keeps it 100% real. There is nothing sugar coated. This lady is definitely taking hip hop to the next level. The BEST level. Make way, because the Queen has spoken and she has come to claim her throne.

ALLOYIUS MCILWAINE, CLOTHING DESIGNER AND ARTIST
Cultures Clothing was founded in the year 2000 by Alloyius McIlwaine. The line is representative of high fashion, urban wear, and everything in-between. "As a designer and an artist, I'm inspired by everything around me, so I try to show that in the clothing." Cultures Clothing Company wants to show that all nationalities, cultures, or social groups have something interesting or beautiful about them. Your environment has just as much to do with who you are as your nationality, so Cultures Clothing wants to highlight aspects of society as well as the different nationalities around the world. For example, along with influences from different nationalities, you'll see influences from everything from fine art & high fashion to hip-hop in the clothing as well. On the price tags for the clothing, Cultures Clothing includes little known or interesting facts about different cultures, to inform people, and to help them to understand that we are all connected. Along with doing pieces of clothing for mass production, many of the pieces from Cultures Clothing are hand-painted and can be customized, so that the consumer can have a one of a kind piece of art to wear!

THAT'S AMANDA FOR YA!

I met Amanda over Facebook. She was a sophmore at the college I was going to in the Fall and being a freshman I was trying to get it in where I fit in early with the upper classmen lol. We exchanged numbers and as soon as I came to campus I felt welcome. A year has passed, Amanda and I has been the best of friends. We have our disagreements but in the end I say or do something funny/stupid and we get over it. Everyone calls her THE ADVOCATE because she is always standing up for someone or a cause and that is what makes her unique as a person. I look at things from a negative point of view most of the time and she somehow sees the greater good in a person. That's Amanda for ya!

WHO IS AJALON?

7/03/2009 12:00:00 PM Reporter: Nasty Tai Boogy 0 Responses
AJALON, SINGER/SONGWRITER/PRODUCER
When you think of Talent, combined with creativity, entrepreneurship and an undeniable love and passion for music. This 21 year old young man is a great example of the outcome of all these elements combined.

Philip Ajalon Michael Tinsley, known simply as “Ajalon”, was born November 26 and raised in New York City. At the age of thirteen Ajalon discovered his talent to rhyme and put words together in ways many others could not, but that was just the beginning of his creative talents. Ajalon always had a passion and gift for music since his Godfather enrolled him in music school and he began playing the drums in church by the age of five. Ajalon eventually turned his idea of producing his own music into a reality with the help of his Godfather who was his inspiration and bought him his first sync. Keyboard, along with his mothers motivation for success he was able to teach himself to create his first beat by the age of fourteen. Ajalon began to then write and produce songs for himself and the youth choir at his church. Unfortunately, his Godfather was murdered in 2006, but Ajalon kept his faith as he was taught and beat all the challenges and obstacles that came his way never looking back even after falling victim to the streets at the age of fifteen having to be sent away from his family. When he returned he was a much smarter and stronger young man ready to take hold of his future.

Ajalon is no stranger to the concept “if no one will do it for you, you must do it yourself”. This multi-talented music producer, songwriter and recording artist engineers and perfects his craft from his studio at home. In 2006 he started his own production company called P DOT Productions and in that same year he also directed, edited, and wrote his first short independent film entitled “The Set Up” which led him to direct and edit his own music videos.

Ajalon's amazing stage presence and dynamic energetic performances has him building a buzz and creating a fanbase wherever he goes. Ajalon is prepared to make his mark in the music industry to set him apart from other independent artists and producers and he has the drive and the creative talent to make him stand out. He is a strong believer that hard work, faith in God and non-stop determination will allow him to reach his desired level of success.

A YOUNG STAR IN THE MAKING...

TOMMI WILLIAMS, SINGER

Tommi is a 14 year old singer/actress from Detroit, Michigan. Her parents would notice her singing and humming around the house when she was at the age of 2. So they decided to buy her a karaoke machine when she was four, and she would always sing with it before school, after school, and before she went to bed. Tommi also loves school, she has been a 4.0 student since preschool. She started homeschooling in 2006.

Tommi and her family moved to LA, California in 2005 after years of her bugging her parents about it. Tommi has been on National T.V since the age of 7, and had recent trips to New York and LA, and she really wanted to move to LA after visiting there many times. Tommi street performed from 2006-2008 on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. She loved it because "it was great practice, and I got to meet a lot of new people."

Tommi has been on music videos and commercials such as: Ford, Ludacris/Mary J. Blige, Greenday, U2. She also loves to dance, she was actually dancing before singing!

Tommi loves to inspire people with her voice, and making them happy. When she inspires them, it inspires her to keep singing. She loves to to sing, act, and dance. It is her life.
